Introduction to Yongxin shield dance
Applicant: Yongxin County, Jiangxi Province
Yongxin County of Jiangxi Province is located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, in the middle of Luoxiao mountains. Shield dance is a popular folk dance in Yongxin. According to the records of Yongxin county annals and Wu's genealogy in Nantang village, the shield can be "used for practicing martial arts and self-defense" in the Ming Dynasty, and the shield dance evolved from it has a history of more than 200 years.
Shield dance mainly shows the scene of the two armies fighting against each other, attacking and defending each other. It is performed by men. Two iron fork hands and many (more than 8) card players roll, hit, pile and hide together to form eight formations, such as quadrangle formation, snake formation, eight character formation, hornet formation, tag formation, dragon gate formation, purse formation and flower plate formation. The array layout is ingenious and rigorous, with different shapes. The characteristics of his movements are that he does not fall down, combines hardness and softness, and is not in disorder. The music features of shield dance are mainly the absorption of Suona tune "Gong tune" in "Dengcai", "Nanlu Sanban" in "traditional opera" and Allegro gongs and drums in "Guoshu", as well as the continuous ringing of short knives and the shouts of actors, which play a very good role in creating a lively atmosphere.
Shield dance is a household name in Yongxin area. There was a saying that "it's not a man to not practice shield", especially when Lantern Festival "lights up". It is deeply loved by local people and enriches people's cultural life. Yongxin shield dance is an epitome of the folk customs in southwest Jiangxi mountainous area, which embodies the most primitive national cohesion, team spirit and fighting spirit. In terms of artistic value, it integrates martial arts, juggling, dance and modeling, and becomes a typical representative of local culture.
With the rapid development of cultural life and the death of old artists, shield dance is in danger of being lost, so the rescue work is imminent.
