Tibetan drum dance is a large-scale folk ritual dance popular in the Tibetan inhabited area of Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province. It is held in June of the lunar calendar every year, aiming at praying for gods and disasters to drive away evil spirits, and blessing villagers with a long life and abundant grain. He is one of the nine sons of the dragon in legend. He has a big mouth and can swallow the sea. The performance of drum dance is a sacrifice to the water dragon. At present, 13 sets of movements have been handed down.
During the performance of Tibetan drum dance, a dance team composed of several men, the dancers wearing five peaks auspicious hat, wearing golden prismatic shawl, holding the drum in their left hand and whip in their right hand, beating the drum while dancing without any other musical instruments. The dance style of Jue drum dance is sharp and full of masculine beauty. The movements of bending forward to beat the drum and flexing and stretching the knee form a unique rhythm, showing the characteristics of the dance culture of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, which is rough, vigorous, enthusiastic and unrestrained. The whole dance is a multi segment style, with rigorous and complete structure, neat and uniform movements, and can not be freely played. The basic action consists of "step forward, bend legs, jump and beat drum", etc. the basic formation includes clockwise circle walking, square array, tail swinging, oblique intersection, circular staggered transposition, spiral circle, horizontal arrangement, etc. each section changes a formation.
In the form of group dance, Tibetan dance dance shows the process of inviting gods, worshiping gods, sending gods and subduing demons. It shows the ancient and simple relic of primitive religious culture, and vividly reflects the religious beliefs, living conditions and aesthetic concepts of the local ethnic minorities. It has high historical and cultural research value. In recent years, due to the rapid changes in the social environment, the survival of this ancient dance style is in trouble, and there is a crisis of inheritance, which is in urgent need of protection.
