Dong nationality is one of the most abundant and popular ethnic groups in China. Dong medicine has a broad mass base in the local area. The idea of "heaven, earth, gas, water and human" is the core of the academic thought of Dong medicine. Dong doctors divided the diseases into 24 major diseases and 72 minor diseases, which were widely involved in internal and external diseases, women, children, bone injuries and other diseases. They were especially effective in orthopedics, knife and arrow wounds, snake and insect bites. The processing technology of xanthate is one of the essence of Dong traditional medicine. It has unique characteristics in processing technology, examination of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, medication, health care and so on.

It is a natural medicinal plant widely used in the medicine of Dong Nationality in Southeast Guizhou. The whole herb is used for medicine. It has the functions of hemostasis, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory. According to different diseases, according to different methods of picking, or whole grass into medicine, or part of medicine, combined with other herbs to make the required dosage forms, the main dosage forms are fresh medicine juice, fresh medicine application, compound decoction, liquor, paste and so on.
