Beijing Opera is a treasure of Chinese culture and art. In 2001, Jiangsu performing arts group was established by six provincial literary and art groups including Jiangsu Peking opera academy. In 2005, it was awarded "national key Peking Opera Troupe" by the Ministry of culture. Over the past half century, the theater has made important contributions to the establishment and development of Beijing Opera Theater, including Cheng School inheritor Xin Yanqiu, Tan school inheritor Wang Qinsheng, Qi school inheritor Zhao Yunhe, wusheng famous artists Liang Huichao, Zhou Yunliang, Wang Zhengkun, Wudan, Zhou Yunxia and dozens of other artists. At present, there are more than 120 performers in the theater, with a neat lineup and various genres. The theater has a number of national first-class actors such as Li Jie, Xu Quanxin and Zhou Lixia, who are renowned at home and abroad.

Since the establishment of the theatre, on the basis of inheriting the tradition, it has always regarded the creation of plays as the foundation of the development of the theatre. Since the 1950s, he has created dozens of excellent plays such as Camel Xiangzi and elegant red scarf.
