Suzhou jiangsixutang traditional Chinese painting pigments, calligraphy and painting inkpad, is a traditional cultural goods with Chinese national style, enjoying a special reputation in the "four treasures" of Chinese study.

Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there have been many famous people of Suzhou Wumen painting school, and the demand for traditional Chinese painting pigments has increased. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, a shop named "sixutang" of Jiang family was set up in dutingqiao, changmen. Because of its complete variety, exquisite selection of materials, fine research and bleaching, and excellent manufacturing, many famous painters in modern times, such as Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Xu Beihong, Qi Baishi, used pigments in their famous paintings, which were mostly from Jiang sixu Tang's milk bowl.

The raw materials of jiangsixutang traditional Chinese painting pigments can be divided into five categories: mineral, plant, animal, gold and silver and chemical synthesis. Different raw materials lead to different manufacturing methods: some need to grind, some need to soak, some need to take its essence, and some only need to lift the floating fat. Even if the same raw material is of good or bad quality, it must be selected by the artists to use it. There are more than ten processes, such as crushing, water bleaching, grinding, gluing, sedimentation, leather feet, decocting, spreading paste, shearing paste, cold drying, weighing, packaging, and so on.

Jiang sixutang's traditional Chinese painting pigments have the characteristics of bright color, pure luster, light and fine as dust, melting into water, blending with ink, being compatible with paper, mounting more and lasting. Painting and calligraphy inkpad has the characteristics of no oil leakage, no seal inlay, light resistance and solemn color. Its craft mostly depends on handwork, which is a unique craft.
