The common name of dough sculpture is huamo, wowowohua and Gaohua, also known as dough sculpture. It is a kind of traditional food sculpture art popular in Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu and other northern regions, and it is also a kind of festival art very close to people's life. The origin of Mianhua is closely related to the traditional folk diet and beliefs and customs. The relics of Tang Dynasty dough sculpture unearthed from Astana tomb in Turpan, Xinjiang, show that this folk art has a long history of development in China. In the northern region, dough sculpture has a deep mass foundation. Every family will make dough according to local customs and practices during traditional festivals. These flour flower products have various forms and different postures, and have many functions, such as offering, viewing and eating. Langzhuang dough sculpture, commonly known as "face tiger", is a traditional food sculpture popular in Langzhuang, Guanxian County, Shandong Province. According to the stele of Langzhuang village, during the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty, there were brothers surnamed Lang who migrated from Shanxi and established the village by surname, named "Langzhuang". Later, because the word "Lang" is homonymous with "wolf", it implies danger. Some skillful villagers fabricate "face tiger" to make "wolf" to overcome evil and pray for peace. After that, the method of kneading tiger and making wolf became a common custom, which continued from generation to generation in Langzhuang. After continuous development and improvement by later generations, the local unique dough sculpture art was formed. Langzhuang dough sculpture exudes a strong local flavor, which fully reflects the characteristics of local folk culture and the aesthetic creativity of the people. It has high historical and cultural value and can provide vivid examples for the study of local folk custom and folk art.
