Introduction to Xinggan Opera:
Applicant: Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province
Xinggan opera, also known as "Shenggan opera", is a ritual opera of Taoism that transcends ghosts and guides people to return to normal. It has been performed in Ming Dynasty. Xinggan opera originated in Yongkang County, Zhejiang Province, and spread in Dongyang, Yiwu, Pan'an, Wuyi, Jinhua, Jinyun, etc. On the basis of folk songs and minor tunes, Xinggan opera is developed by absorbing Hou Yang's and Songyang's Gao Qiang, which belongs to the opera type of Qupai style Gao Qiang. Xinggan opera is formed on the basis of folk sacrificial customs and rituals, so it has unique performance characteristics. His opera performance is combined with sacrificial ceremony, the actor and Taoist have a concurrent role, and the script echoes with the content of the book. The music of Xinggan opera is mainly high pitched music. Folk songs and Taoist tunes are used at the same time. The colloquial language is easy to understand. Acrobatics such as "turning the ninth floor" are interspersed in the performance.
The traditional repertoire of Xinggan opera can be traced back to the southern opera of song and Yuan Dynasties, such as the biographical version of Meng Jiangnu, the Great Wall, and the biographical version of Donghai Huanggong, the white tiger. There are nine kinds of traditional scripts in Xinggan opera, such as the death of women, fox, shaking City, drowning, duanyuan, disobedience and maotoushang. The protagonists in the play are all young victims, so it is also called "Shenggan jiushang". Among them, the most important is maotoushang, which is maotouhuajie. Therefore, Xinggan opera is also called maotouhuajie opera. Xinggan opera is rich in singing, and it has a unique form of interleaving the external stage performance and the internal altar ceremony in the performance process. As a ritual opera, it is unique in the high pitched opera.
With a deep mass base, Zhejiang Yongkang Xinggan opera once fell into a critical situation. At present, with the high attention and support of the local government, the performance and development of Xinggan opera gradually get out of the dilemma. The number of troupes increased, and they often performed in local fairs, temple fairs and other folk activities.
