Introduction to pingnanping's Drama
Applicant: Pingnan County, Fujian Province
Pingnanping storytelling opera is the most influential local high tune opera in the eastern Fujian dialect area. It is developed from the "Tuo story" performance popular in Northeast Fujian in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, also known as "shoulder shed", and widely spread in Pingnan County, Fujian Province. Its artistic form is relatively simple and primitive, and its singing is mostly composed of local folk songs, slang songs and Taoist music. When singing, only "Dao Shao ban" is used to match the rhythm of gongs and drums. Pingshuo opera and Yiyang opera have the same singing characteristics. They adopt the form of "singing" and "harmony" by combining the Tuge and bangchang. Later, after development, string accompaniment was gradually added, and the instruments used included "Maohu", "Zhina" and so on. The repertoire often performed in Pingshuo opera includes a number of classic works known as "seven pairs", "eight gifts" and "Twenty-one miscellaneous" as well as some "three little plays" by Xiaosheng, Xiaodan and clown. Their performances are simple and rough, close to life. The costumes and make-up are also very simple, and they are usually made of printed local cloth; the clown only draws a white round egg on his cheeks and inserts two nose whiskers to go on stage; Xiaosheng and Xiaodan only use "Xiamen peach" to put a little red on his eyebrows, lips and cheeks to perform.
Pingshuo opera preserves the artistic characteristics and primitive performance style of Yiyang Gaoqiang, which provides an important reference for the study of Gaoqiang, especially "Gaoqiang with white characters". Its traditional repertoire and performing arts are the treasures of Chinese opera culture and have high artistic value.
