A brief introduction to Gougou

"YiGouGou" is a kind of local opera evolved from GuZi Yangko in Gaotang area. GAOTANG GuZi Yangko is a folk singing art. The singer carries a flower drum on his waist and sings with his own drum. Later, it developed into a stage performance, and uses Sihu as the accompaniment instrument. It developed into a form of opera, known as "four strings". The trades include Qingyi, Huadan, Husheng, Xiaosheng, hualianchou, etc. "YiGouGou" opera, the form of performance is simple, actors are mostly folk diaspora artists, generally use the spring and winter slack season to organize performance. Actors work during the day, such as helping workers, weeding, and singing at night, which is often called "weeding class" by villagers. They also often organize performances in rural fairs and festivals. A hook comes from "a roar". Because of its singing with an ACU or a roar, people call it "a hook" after a long time.

"YiGouGou" has more than 70 traditional plays, mainly including "Dongqin", "Xiqin", "zuloushaxi", "liangshanbo and Zhu Yingtai", "Hulin snatching marriage", "sanjinshi" and "nvfuma". From 1962 to 1965, a number of modern plays were rehearsed.

"YiGouGou" has a broad mass base, unique music style and rich local color in the content. It is a typical drama of Huagu system, with aesthetic, academic and other values.
