Qilitang Township

Qilitang Township, Dingyuan County, Anhui Province, is located in the west of Dingyuan County, bordering Changfeng County on the outside, Luqiao Town, Yongkang Town, Zhuwan Town, Wuxu town and machanghu farm on the inside, Peihe River on the south, Luohe River on the north, expressway on the East and s311 highway on the West. It is 9km away from yonghuai highway in the north, 18km away from shuijiahu Lake in the west, and about an hour's drive away from Hefei city and Bengbu City.

Qilitang was formed by merging the former Qilitang Township and Sunji township at the end of 2001. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, the township has a total of 8 administrative villages, 198 villager groups, 29376 permanent residents (in 2017), and the contracted cultivated land area is 55000 mu.

Historical evolution

Qilitang has a long history. According to legend, the name of Qilitang originates from Yitang, which is just 7 li away from the shore, so it is called "Qilitang". The famous stone age houjiazhai cultural site is located in the north of Yuanzhuang formation in sijialiucun, Qilitang. It was discovered in the spring of 1978. It covers an area of more than 30000 square meters and has a cultural layer thickness of 2.5 meters. It is divided into four layers. At the top of the site are several pit tombs of the Western Han Dynasty and brick chamber tombs of the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to the research and identification, this site is about 7000 years ago, which is a cultural relic of the early Neolithic age found in the province. It fully shows that Dingyuan has been inhabited by human beings since ancient times, and it is also a tribal settlement of higher cultural level, which can be described as "outstanding people". The excavation of the site has added a cultural point of ancient human beings to the land of Jianghuai, filling the gap between caoqiaowan in Sixian county and Yinshan in Chaoxian county. Sanjiadu has a history of 1000 years. There are many ancient sites of Tang Dynasty, and the most valuable "laogudui" remains to be excavated.
