Dawan town was established in 1981. In 1997, with an area of 7 square kilometers and a population of 60000, it has jurisdiction over eight neighborhood committees, including qingjiangxi Road, Dawan West Road, Dawan North Road and Yihu community. By the end of 2003, it had an area of 15 square kilometers and a population of 54482, including 13783 agricultural population. It has jurisdiction over 5 communities, 7 administrative villages and 59 communities. In 2004, Dawan town was abolished and Dawan sub district office was established.

In December 2019, Chengdu Municipal People's government decided to put the administrative areas under the jurisdiction of MIMU town to the northwest of the central line of the wisdom industry avenue under the jurisdiction of Dawan street, the northwest of the central line of the wisdom industry avenue under the jurisdiction of Hongyang street, the southwest of the central lines of Tuanjie middle road and Tuanjie West Road, the south of the central line of the first section of Huajin Avenue, and the west of the central line of Chengdu Mianyang expressway.

Archaeology

In March 2016, in order to build a logistics park, archaeologists carried out routine archaeological exploration in Shuangyuan village, Dawan street, Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu. Unexpectedly, we found the boat coffin tombs from the spring and Autumn period to the Warring States period. As of March 2017, a total of 180 tombs have been excavated and cleared, with a scale rarely seen in recent years. The tombs span more than 200 years, extending from the late spring and Autumn period to the middle and late Warring States period. In the past, most of the ship coffins found in the surrounding areas of Chengdu were in the Warring States period, but rarely in the spring and Autumn period.

Qingbaijiang District has successively discovered sanxingcun Shang Zhou site, baojialiangzi Han tomb group, MIMU Town Han tomb group, Chengdu errao Warring States tomb group. Especially the discovery of sanxingcun Shang Zhou site has linked Qingbaijiang with Sanxingdui culture and Jinsha culture. The discovery of the tombs in Shuangyuan village during the spring and autumn and Warring States period once again linked Qingbaijiang with the Shu king family of the Kaiming Dynasty of the ancient Shu Kingdom, providing detailed material materials for the changes of the ancient Shu civilization. The historical context of Qingbaijiang District will be clearer.
