According to the county annals of the Republic of China, taipingli polder field was first set up in 1921, and was named after the polder field as a large flat. Later, it was refined into taipingli, hence the name of taipingli township. Shaping township is named after its original residence, and shaping village is called shaping because of the alluvial formation of river sediment. In 1949, it was near urban and rural areas, in 1950, it was near urban area (also known as the first district), and in 1951, it was divided from near urban area to establish Taiping District (the seventh district). In 1956, Taiping Township and shaping Township were set up. In August 1958, the two townships merged to establish Taiping commune. in 1959, baishidu town was included in the list. In 1961, it was divided into Taiping commune, shaping commune and baishidu town. In 1964, the two communes of Taiping and shaping were merged into Taiping commune, and in 1966 they were renamed Wuling commune. In 1980, it was divided into two communes, shaping and Taiping. In March 1984, the commune was removed and the township was changed to taipingli Township and shaping township. In 1996, taipingli Township covers an area of 67 square kilometers and has a population of 14000. The township government is located in Taoziwan, which governs 10 administrative villages and taipingli neighborhood committees, including Changping, raotan, taipingli, Hukou, dengjiawan, Xiaoshui, laoheshan, Xiaoxi, Yongkou and Tangxia. Shaping Township covers an area of 71 square kilometers and has a population of 20000. The township government is located in huangnaiao, which governs shapingli, Aobei, Fenshui, Yanjiang, Xianghe, and taipingli Tiekeng, Liujun, Zhangqiao, fululing, oujiadong, 12mu, Tanshan 11 administrative villages and shaping neighborhood committee. In May 1998, the residence of shaping township government was moved to maoliping, Liujun county. in December 2015, the Department of civil affairs of Hunan Province agreed to abolish Wuling Township and establish Wuling town

Industry

Jigang (Kangda) cement plant is a cement plant invested more than 700 million yuan by Fujian Jigang company. It was put into operation in 2012 with an annual output of 2 million tons of cement.
