Historical evolution
In the Qing Dynasty, relief granary was built on the ridge, which was commonly known as Cangshang.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Xixiang.
After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it belonged to Hexie Township in the western district.

In August 1962, 10 production teams were set up from Peijia commune and Cangshang commune was established.
In December 1964, it was a newly established Xiying district.
In May 1984, Cangshang township was added.
