High pole boat
--The high pole boat, also known as the benchmark boat, is commonly known as the "silkworm boat", which is used to pray for the "cocoon" harvest in Wuzhen area.
--This activity started in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Every year during the Qingming Festival, the villagers would perform various difficult movements on the high pole in turn. They all imitate the "shape" of silkworms' spinning and express people's wish for a good harvest of cocoons.
--Since the performance was resumed in dongzha scenic area of Wuzhen, it has been loved by tourists because of its strong ornamental, water and silkworm characteristics.
--The performance period is from 10:30 a.m. to 14:30 p.m.

This activity began in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. Every year during the Qingming Festival, in order to pray for "twenty-four points of silkworm blossom", the villagers would join hands to form a "high pole" performance boat. On the "high pole", they performed all kinds of difficult movements: pole tip handstand, two hands off the pole, lying alone on the pole body, hovering in the air They all imitate the "shape" of silkworms' spinning and express people's good wishes for a good harvest of cocoons.
present situation
According to research, in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, men in Wuzhen and zhouquan were able to climb the pole. Before and after liberation, especially during the cultural revolution, high pole performance stopped completely. Until the 1990s, it recovered again, but few artists could climb up.
