Development history

The construction of the Natural Science Museum of Tibet Autonomous Region started on October 8, 2010 in the eastern suburb of Lhasa. It is the first natural science museum in Tibet. At the commencement ceremony on the 8th, Baima Chilin, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and Hao Peng, executive vice chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, laid the foundation for the project.

The construction project of the Natural Science Museum of Tibet Autonomous Region is one of the 180 key projects of the national construction in Tibet during the 11th five year plan, with a planned investment of more than 70 billion yuan. Among these projects, 170 have started construction and 76 have been completed, with a total investment of 37.2 billion yuan.

According to the information provided by the office of the Preparatory Leading Group for the construction project of the Natural Science Museum of Tibet Autonomous Region, this natural science museum is a large public welfare comprehensive museum with "three in one" Nature Museum, science and Technology Museum and exhibition hall. The project covers an area of 446 mu, which is planned to be constructed in two phases. The first phase covers an area of 200 mu, with an investment of 442.5 million yuan and a construction area of 33000 square meters. The second phase is the theme venue of seven cities in Tibet Autonomous Region.

After completion, the exhibition hall of Tibet Natural Science Museum is divided into two parts: permanent exhibition hall and temporary exhibition hall. The permanent exhibition hall includes three parts: Nature Museum, science and Technology Museum and exhibition hall. In addition, the main museum is equipped with conference room, science popularization activity room, multi-function lecture hall, 4D movie hall, dome cinema and other ancillary facilities.

According to the science and Technology Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Tibet Natural Science Museum is a major science and technology and cultural infrastructure invested by the state, and one of the 180 key projects that the state plans to invest more than 70 billion yuan in Tibet during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period. Among them, the nature museum has five theme exhibition areas, including plateau uplift, magical landscape, miracle of life, world barrier and plateau scientific research; the science and Technology Museum is divided into four theme exhibition areas, including the road of exploration, wisdom paradise, light of science and technology, and the roof of experience world, in which the planetarium will also be set up, so that the public can watch the beautiful starry sky through astronomical equipment; the exhibition hall contains civilized kindling and written literature There are six theme exhibition areas, including religious culture, traditional art, folk customs, protection and inheritance. Through the exhibition form of "Tibet intangible cultural heritage protection achievement exhibition", the exhibition shows and introduces the Tibet Autonomous Region to the audience at home and abroad. With the great attention of the regional party committee and government, the exhibition focuses on publicizing the rich, unique and colorful folk cultural heritage of Tibet Autonomous Region to the audience, so as to make the audience further understand Tibet.
