The Third Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened in the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of the 4th.

The third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference should have attended 2154 members, but 2110 were actually present, which meets the required number.

Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Shi Taifeng, Hu Chunhua, Shen Yueyue, Wang Yong, Zhou Qiang, Pabala Gelerangjie, He Houhua, Leung Chun ying, Batel, Su Hui, Shao Hong, Gao Yunlong, Chen Wu, Mu Hong, Xian Hui, Wang Dongfeng, Jiang Xinzhi, Jiang Zuojun, He Baoxiang, Wang Guangqian, Qin Boyong, Zhu Yongxin, and Yang Zhen, Vice Chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, were seated in front of the podium.

At 3 pm, Shi Taifeng announced the opening of the conference, and everyone stood up and sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China.

The conference first reviewed and approved the agenda of the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Wang Huning stated that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five Year Plan.

Wang Huning summarized the work of the People's Political Consultative Conference over the past year. He said that 2024 is also the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Political Consultative Conference. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which pointed out the direction of progress and provided fundamental guidance for the development of the CPPCC cause in the new era and new journey. Under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and its Standing Committee adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply understand the decisive significance of the "two consolidations", enhance the "four consciousnesses", strengthen the "four confidences", and achieve the "two safeguards", comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 2nd and 3rd Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, adhere to the organic combination of Party leadership, united front, and consultative democracy, adhere to the nature and positioning of the People's Political Consultative Conference, focus on fulfilling the central tasks of the Party and the state, adhere to the People's Political Consultative Conference as the people. Wang Huning stated that 2025 is the final year of the 14th Five Year Plan and an important year for further comprehensive deepening of reforms. The People's Political Consultative Conference should adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 2nd and 3rd Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, implement the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, effectively shoulder the political responsibility of implementing the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the requirements for the work of the People's Political Consultative Conference, and gather the wisdom and strength of Chinese people at home and abroad. We should adhere to the center and serve the overall situation, assist in the high-quality completion of the goals and tasks of the 14th Five Year Plan, and lay a solid foundation for achieving a good start.

Wang Huning said that we should adhere to the overall leadership of the CPC over the CPPCC, continue to deepen the Party's innovative theoretical arm, strengthen ideological and political guidance, and widely gather consensus. We should closely promote Chinese path to modernization, improve the CPPCC's consultative democracy mechanism, strengthen confidence in winning, gather the strength to forge ahead, promote the CPPCC work in the new era and new journey to a new level, and constantly consolidate the common ideological and political foundation for unity and struggle, so as to widely gather people's hearts, consensus, wisdom, and strength for Chinese path to modernization.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman Jiang Zuojun reported to the conference on the progress of proposal work since the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Since the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a total of 6019 proposals have been put forward, of which 5091 have been reviewed and filed. 99.9% of the proposals have been resolved. The proposal focuses on promoting Chinese path to modernization, further comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, maintaining social harmony and stability, and a large number of opinions and suggestions are translated into policies and measures to promote economic and social development, implemented into relevant development plans, laws and regulations, and system documents, and the role of the proposal is further highlighted.
