Another asteroid named after Chinese scientists

According to the China News Agency, the International Committee on asteroid nomenclature has announced that the international No. 347336 asteroid discovered by the Zijinshan Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been officially named "Zhang miman" in recognition of academician Zhang miman as the founder of the research on the origin of Chinese tetrapods, Its sustainable work has made an important contribution to the revolutionary change of early vertebrate evolution.

It is understood that academician Zhang, 85 years old, has long been engaged in comparative morphology, paleoichthyology, late Mesozoic and Cenozoic stratigraphy, paleogeography and biological evolution. She has served as director of Institute of Paleovertebrate, Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of international paleontological Association, President of Chinese paleontological society, etc. she has also been selected as a foreign member of Linnaeus society in London, an honorary member of North American Paleovertebrate society, etc.

In 2018, academician Zhang miman won the "World Outstanding Female Scientist Award". She was also awarded the "science and Technology Achievement Award" of the Heliang Heli foundation in 2018 for her outstanding scientific research achievements. She was recommended by the Heliang Heli foundation as a candidate for the international asteroid naming in December 2020 and approved in May 2021.
