Famous computer expert Academician Shen Xubang has passed away
Comrade Shen Xubang, a member of the CPC, an academician of the CAS Member, a famous computer expert in China, and a researcher of the Xi'an Institute of Microelectronics of the China Aerospace Electronics Technology Research Institute, died in Xi'an on August 16, 2024 at the age of 92
Shen Xubang was born on January 10, 1933 in Linli, Hunan. In 1953, he was admitted to the Mathematics Department of Wuhan University. Joined the Communist Party in 1956 and was transferred to the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics at Peking University to study computer science in the same year. In 1965, he was transferred to 156 Engineering Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the predecessor of 771 Institute). In 1997, he was elected as an academician of the CAS Member
Shen Xubang has been engaged in the design of embedded computers and their chips. Participated in the design of China's first small and medium-sized integrated circuit two types of arrow mounted digital computers, making outstanding contributions to solving the problem of miniaturization of arrow mounted digital computers. In 2016, Academician Shen Xubang was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chinese Computer Society
