Introduction to huaidiao

Applicant: Anyang County, Henan Province

Huaidiao, also known as "huaidiao" and "Zhanghe laodiao", is a local opera of Bangzi tune system. It is also known as "Wufu huaidiao" because it is widely spread in Zhangde, Weihui, Shunde, Guangping and damingfu in Henan Province. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, huaidiao opera had been widely spread in Northern Henan and Southern Hebei. Most of the government troops kept huaidiao opera troupes for entertainment. For example, the Touzao class (Criminal Police), the Erzao class (internal service) and the Xiying class (Garrison) in Zhangde Prefecture all have huaidiao classes, which are called shangsan classes. Folk huaidiao classes are more common.

There are more than 300 traditional operas of huaidiao, most of which are historical dramas. Yang Jiajiang and pan Yangsi are often performed. The performance is complete and bold, close to the style of Daxian opera and Dapingdiao. It integrates the artistic elements of martial arts acrobatics and "dahongquan", and retains the performing skills of early operas such as "playing fangs". The singing style is banqiang, which includes adagio, Erbao, Liushui and Sanban. The accompaniment follows the main musical instruments in the early stage of Bangzi opera, such as Daxian, Erxian and Sanxian. The martial field retains the characteristic musical instruments and accompaniment methods, such as "four fans" and "jianzihao". It is very suitable to interpret and express the scenes and atmosphere of ancient wars. Huaidiao's singing style is tall, straight and unique. It is mainly divided into the first board, the second board, the flowing water and the third board. There are also other tunes. Huaidiao's musical instruments include Banhu, erhu, Dihu, Danao, dacymbal and dabangzi. Huaidiao, also known as "dabangzi tune", comes from it.

Huaidiao has a long history, distinct personality and rich heritage. However, in recent years, its living condition is deteriorating, the market is shrinking, the team is aging, and there is no successor. At present, there is only one professional performing group in Anyang County, which needs to be supported and protected.
