Applicant: Nayong County, Guizhou Province
Lusheng dance, also known as "stepping on Lusheng" and "stepping on song hall", is named for its accompaniment and self blowing and self dancing. It is popular in Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan and other places where Miao, Dong, Buyi, Shui, Gelao, Zhuang, Yao and other ethnic groups live together. It is the most popular and widely distributed folk dance of southern ethnic minorities. According to the unearthed figurines of Lusheng music and dance in the Western Han Dynasty, Lusheng dance has a history of more than 2000 years. Lusheng dance is mostly performed in festivals, gatherings, celebrations and other festive moments, mainly including self entertainment, competition and etiquette.
The Lusheng dance of the Miao nationality was originally called "Earth Dragon rolling Jing" and "Zi Luo Duo" in Miao language. It is one of the Lusheng dances handed down from generation to generation by Miao people. It is said that in ancient times, the ancestors of the Miao nationality had a big migration, with bumpy roads and thorns everywhere. In order to open up a channel for their parents and fellow villagers, the brave young Miao people used their strong bodies to roll out a road from the thorns forest. In order to commemorate the achievements of these young people, they imitated their body rolling down thorns and made Lusheng dance, which was named "Earth Dragon rolling thorns".
"Gunshanzhu" is a Miao folk dance integrating Lusheng playing, dance performance and acrobatics. During the performance, six 20 cm long iron spear heads are inserted into the ground to form a circle with a diameter of about 0.7 meters, or six opposite rice bowls are filled with water to form a circle instead of spears. With Lusheng in hand, the performers play, jump and roll around the darts or water bowls. The performance is highly skilled and extremely thrilling. "Rolling beads" in the long-term development process gradually into a variety of skills, and constantly improve. By 1989, Lusheng dance "Gunshanzhu" had developed from a single performance to a dance performed by 6-8 people at the same time. The performers hold six pipes of Lusheng in their hands, wear Qing chicken feather hats, and wear embroidered white coats. They play the Lusheng dance music handed down from generation to generation. They perform around spears or bowls full of water. Sometimes they take the head as the foot. The difficulty of Lusheng dance steps and techniques increases with the performance process, showing the thrilling scene of Miao compatriots' bravery, bravery and elimination of all difficulties during their migration.
The Miao Lusheng dance "Gunshanzhu" has become a wonderful flower in the folk art of ethnic minorities with its rough and uninhibited style, high and dangerous movements and profound cultural connotation. It has participated in many art festivals at home and abroad, and has been highly appreciated by Chinese and foreign people and compatriots of all ethnic groups. The tenacious and indomitable national character contained in this dance is a valuable spiritual wealth. It inspires and guides people to move forward and never be overwhelmed by difficulties.
