Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County is the intersection of national culture and the birthplace of folk songs in Southeast Chongqing. Youyang folk song is the product of the fusion and evolution of Miao, Han and Tujia ethnic cultures in the special geographical environment of Wuling mountain area. Its origin can be traced back to Bayu song and dance in ancient times.

At present, there are more than 1700 Youyang folk songs excavated, among which the most distinctive and musical value is Haozi, represented by Heishui Haozi, nanmu Haozi and Jinggang Haozi. Heishui number is divided into Xiayang number, planting number and collecting number; nanmu number is divided into Qihao, Shangtian number, Liuliu number and trombone; Jinggang number is divided into morning number, noon number, afternoon number, evening number and shahao number. The villages and towns in Youyang are blocked by mountains. Although the folk songs are inherited from the same source, they develop separately in a closed environment, resulting in the situation of one tune and one tune. The music styles of folk songs in different regions are different from each other. In the high tune melody of songs in different places, there is a big jump from low to high.
