Applicant: Haikou City, Hainan Province

Shifan music, also known as "Shiban" and "wudui", is named after 10 musical instruments made of silk, bamboo, leather, wood and gold. This kind of music is relaxed and lively, with strong sense of rhythm, harmonious rhythm and pleasant to the ear. It is widely spread in Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places in China. Most of Shifan tunes come from folk ditty and huapai (suona tune). At the same time, they also absorb a lot of nutrients from opera, quyi and song tunes. Their performance forms include sitting, walking and dancing. Generally speaking, they are conducted by the person in charge of the board.

Hainan Bayin instrumental music is the main variety of Hainan instrumental music. It is named after the use of string, Qin, flute, pipe, Xiao, Gong, drum and Nao. Hainan local commonly known as the so-called eight tones, including musical instruments, music, but also band. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, Hainan Bayin had its embryonic form, and it had developed very mature in the Ming Dynasty. Wang Haoran, a musician in Qiongshan County of Hainan Province in Ming Dynasty, was famous for his mastery of eight notes. He was selected as a court musician with his son during the reign of Chenghua. He left three volumes of PA se Pu and two volumes of Ba Yin abstract for later generations. From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China until the founding of new China, this instrumental form has been popular in Hainan for a long time. It spread throughout Hainan Island and went to Southeast Asian countries with the footprints of qiongqiao.

The music of Hainan Bayin is very rich, and its performance can be divided into four categories according to the custom: big blow, clear sound of gongs and drums, clear sound and play drum. Big blow is played by double suona, with big percussion instruments playing majestic music such as "big open door" and "small open door"; clear sound of gongs and drums can be divided into two kinds, one is to play music such as "qingfengshou" mainly by small suona, the other is to play music such as "naojunpo" mainly by big suona. Qingyin uses "Wenpai" string, Qin, flute and pipe to play, and the tunes are light, jumping, smooth and bright, "nongshouhua", "Songgu" and other music; Xigu uses suona to replace the singing of actors, playing Hainan local opera singing combined with "Qionghua in full bloom", "universal celebration" and other "couplets", and accompanies with other musical instruments.

From the perspective of music history, Hainan Bayin instrumental music has high research value. It is rooted in the folk, rich in local flavor, loved by the masses. At present, there are more than 500 pieces of traditional music of Hainan Bayin instrumental music, and three hand copied I-word scores left in 1924. Under the impact of modern cultural and entertainment methods, Hainan Bayin team is now showing the trend of being out of touch, which is in urgent need of rescue and protection.
