She inkstone is one of the four famous inkstones in China. It is mainly made and famous in she County of ancient Huizhou, so it is called She inkstone. Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province, originally belongs to Huizhou, also known as she inkstone. She Inkstone appeared in Han and Jin Dynasties, and became more and more famous in Tang Dynasty. After Kaiyuan, Longwei inkstone was found, and she inkstone was more precious. After the Southern Tang Dynasty, Li Yu regarded She Inkstone as "the crown of the world", set up "inkstone affairs" in Shezhou, promoted Li Shaowei as "inkstone affairs officer", and she inkstone's value soared from then on. In Song Dynasty, She Inkstone developed rapidly, with more varieties and more fine inkstones. It was the most famous inkstone in terms of its many names, fine texture and carving. From the end of Yuan Dynasty to the beginning of Qing Dynasty, there was no official record on the exploitation of She inkstone, but the production of She inkstone was only a remnant. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the production of She inkstone was once developed, and Venus She Inkstone came out again. After the reform and opening up, she county and Wuyuan County have successively established She Inkstone factory, craft factory, four treasures company of study, etc., with complete types of work from inkstone mining, product production to decoration, as well as new varieties such as "Douban", "lvshusi", "Shehong" and "Ziyun". The production technology of She inkstone is centered on carving, which is composed of stone selection, conception, shaping, pattern design, carving, polishing, inkstone box preparation and other processes. According to the stone texture, it can be divided into five categories: rib, eyebrow, Venus, golden halo and fish roe, with more than 100 varieties. Inkstone has fine texture, both firm and moist quality, with the characteristics of astringency without leaving pen and smoothness without rejecting ink. It is known as "stone crown mountains" and "inkstone national pearl".
