Dragon Boat Festival (Wudalianchi medicine Spring Festival)
Applicant: Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province
Wudalianchi medicinal Spring Festival, also known as "holy water Festival", is a folk activity of Dragon Boat Festival with strong local characteristics held in Yaoquan by Daur, Oroqen, Mongolia, Manchu, Han and other ethnic groups in Wudalianchi area of Heilongjiang Province. More than two hundred years ago, Daur hunters found a medicine spring that can cure diseases and keep fit at the foot of Wudalianchi medicine spring mountain, which produced the place name of "medicine spring". Since then, people of all ethnic groups have gathered in Yaoquan every year before and after the Dragon Boat Festival to worship gods and pray for blessings. The center of the meeting is in the north and South Yaoquan, Yaoquan mountain and Yaoquan river of Wudalianchi town (Yaoquan town).
The main folk activities are: offering sacrifices to Oboo in the morning on the fourth day of the fifth lunar month; lighting a bonfire in the evening by Yaoquan to sing and dance; grabbing "midnight water" in the midnight of the fourth lunar month and the early morning of the fifth lunar month. In the early morning of the fifth day of the lunar new year, they went on a green outing, gathered Artemisia, washed their faces with dew, blackened and prayed for blessings, performed folk skills, held a symbolic ceremony of "shooting and drinking spring", and held a "Spring Lake Lantern Festival" by Yaoquan Lake in the evening. In the morning of the sixth day of the lunar new year, the public held a "Zhongling temple fair" to pray for blessings, a "black dragon temple fair" to "discard stones to dispel diseases" to pray for peace.
Wudalianchi medicine Spring Festival (Holy Water Festival) has a fine tradition of harmonious coexistence and celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival of all nationalities in Heilongjiang border area, which has important ethnological, folkloric and sociological values. It is also of great significance to strengthen national unity and maintain the stability of the motherland's border areas.
