Introduction to Tibetan Thangka (qinze painting school)

Applicant: Tibet Autonomous Region

Qinze painting school was popular in houzang and Shannan areas after the mid-15th century. Its founder was gonggagangdui qinzechem. He was fond of fine arts since childhood. On the basis of traditional Tibetan Nepalese painting, he absorbed the painting techniques of Han and India in the Central Plains and founded the qinze painting school. The appearance of qinze school and Miantang school put an end to the Nepalese painting style which was popular in Wei Zang area. In composition, qinze painting school maintained the dominant feature of Tibetan Nepalese painting, but in landscape performance, it began to absorb the painting style of the Han nationality, especially good at showing the angry images with masculine beauty, and drew wonderful pictures.
