Introduction to Daoqing Opera (Hongdong Daoqing)
Applicant: Hongdong County, Shanxi Province
Hongdong Daoqing is a popular folk opera in Hongdong County, Shanxi Province. It has a long history, unique form and strong local flavor. Its singing is a combination of faqu, Daoqing and folk songs, which fully embodies the characteristics of "three religions sing, each has its own style, Taoist singing, Buddhist singing and Confucian singing ceremony".
Hongdong Daoqing originated in the Ming Dynasty, and the detailed records of its banshe appeared in the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty. The youth Daoqing drama troupe was established in Hongdong County in 1960 and dissolved in 1970. During this period, the troupe successively participated in the second Shanxi opera performance and Shanxi modern drama performance. In 1991, the relevant authorities organized training courses for Daoqing secondary school. In 2000, Hongdong County Cultural Center set up a drama team to rescue and restore Daoqing in Hongdong.
The tunes of Hongdong Daoqing can be divided into "guandiao", "pingdiao" and "gaodiao". The main plays include "Tianxianpei", "Longhushan" and so on.
