Ningjin acrobatics was popular in northern Shandong, and reached its peak in Ming Dynasty. Therefore, northern Shandong became the gathering place and activity center of national acrobatics. In the long process of development, Ningjin acrobatics has gradually formed its own unique categories and factions. The scale and scope of performances are expanding day by day. It is famous for its artistic characteristics of "shock, danger, wonder and beauty". The programs such as "stepping on the bench", "flying flags in the dance" and "little Huadan shaking Diabolo" are deeply loved by audiences at home and abroad.

Since the reform and opening up, the acrobatic troupe of Ningjin County has made bold innovations, fully used the training methods and performance skills of sister art for reference, and enriched and developed the performance forms of acrobatic art. The troupe has been invited to perform in Korea, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Russia and other countries for many times, and has been warmly welcomed by foreign audiences for its novel artistic style and exquisite performance skills.

Ningjin acrobatics has contributed a lot to enrich the cultural life of audiences at home and abroad, and deepened the friendship between people of all countries in the frequent exchanges and performances. In order to prosper acrobatics, Ningjin acrobatics school was established in 1959, which has provided more than 2000 acrobatics talents for acrobatics performance groups at all levels. In 1995, Ningjin County was named "the hometown of Chinese folk art (acrobatics)" by the Ministry of culture. Nevertheless, with the improvement of material living standards, more and more people do not want their children to suffer in the acrobatic troupe. Ningjin acrobatic inheritors are in danger of breaking the chain at any time and need to be protected.
