Applicant: Puyang City, Henan Province

Dongbeizhuang acrobatics in Yuecun Township, Hualong District, Puyang City, Henan Province was formed in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. It has been handed down in this village for more than 500 years. There are mainly three performing groups named Liu, Qiao and Li. The Liu class was formed in the early Ming Dynasty, the Qiao class in the middle Qing Dynasty, and the Li class in the late Qing Dynasty. During the reign of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, "Qiao family Troupe" was ordered by the Qing government to perform in more than 20 countries, such as Japan and India, led by Qiao Zhiqing. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Empress Dowager Cixi personally awarded two longevity dragon lanterns to "Qiao family class" to show her skills. During the period of the Republic of China, "Li family Troupe" held activities in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan and Shanxi, and its performances were very popular. After the founding of new China, many folk artists went out of Puyang and became famous artists, making important contributions to the prosperity and development of acrobatics.

Northeast China's acrobatic performance has its own characteristics, forming many schools. Its overall characteristics are strong local flavor. The most prestigious Qiao family program in the history has widely absorbed the essence of Chinese martial arts and folk skills, and it has had an impact on martial arts, qigong, horse racing, juggling and color tricks. "Double shake board", "straw hat", "women's row chair", "swing ladder", "light pedaling", "top bowl" and "flying fork" are more famous acrobatics programs in dongbeizhuang. Northeast Zhuang acrobatics has a wide range of inheritance and dissemination basis, mining and sorting out the Northeast Zhuang acrobatic art is of great significance for the research of acrobatic art in China.

At present, there are 13 acrobatic families in dongbeizhuang, with more than 1000 acrobatic props and cultural relics. Old artists inherit their skills by apprenticeship. It must be noted that many traditional acrobatic projects without props in dongbeizhuang are in danger of being lost and need to be excavated and protected.
