During the 150 years since the late Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty (1851-1861), Zhejiang has been one of the main activity bases of Suzhou Pingtan. In the early 1960s, there were more than 100 Pingtan bookstores in cities and towns of Zhejiang Province, and even more in rural teahouses. In the past 150 years, many famous critics of Suzhou Pinghua and Tanci have emerged in Zhejiang Province, which has made great contributions to the development of Suzhou Pingtan. Since 1959, Zhejiang quyi troupe, Hangzhou quyi troupe and 10 Suzhou Pingtan professional groups, including Jiaxing, Huzhou, Jiashan, Haining, Tongxiang, Haiyan, Deqing and Anji, have been established in Zhejiang. By September 1984, there were more than 140 Pingtan actors in Suzhou. Among them are Wang Xiongfei, Wang Baiyin, Xing Ruiting, Hu tianru, Xu Tianxiang, Zhang Xuelin and other famous Suzhou Pinghua and Tanci actors. Over the past 30 years, Zhejiang actors have created and performed long Suzhou Tanci such as Dong Xiaowan, Empress Dowager and Shen Wanshan, and medium Suzhou Tanci such as new Pipa line, Li Shuangshuang, Cai E and little Impatiens, which enjoy a high reputation in Suzhou Pingtan circle and the audience. The "xiangdiao" created by Xu Tianxiang, an actor of Zhejiang quyi troupe, is unique in Suzhou Tanci It's very popular with the audience. Since 1977, many important meetings of Suzhou Pingtan circle have been held in Zhejiang. In October 1984, the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China issued a document to establish the "Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai Pingtan work leading group", which fully shows that Zhejiang is one of the indispensable important bases for Suzhou Pingtan cause, and the Suzhou Pingtan team in Zhejiang is an important front army of Suzhou Pingtan. Zhejiang should be one of the protection bases of Suzhou Pingtan.

Zhejiang quyi Troupe (now belonging to Zhejiang quyi Acrobatic Troupe) is the earliest and most powerful Pingtan troupe in Suzhou. At present, it is the only sound Pingtan troupe in Zhejiang Province, with 10 young and middle-aged actors (including 2 first-class actors and 1 second-class actor), and performs more than 1000 Suzhou Tanci performances every year. The regiment has the responsibility and conditions to be the protection and inheritance unit of Suzhou Pingtan.
