Introduction to Emei Wushu
Applicant: Emeishan City, Sichuan Province
Emei Wushu is the general name of Wushu originated in Emeishan area of Sichuan Province and widely spread throughout Sichuan and even southwest China. Emei martial arts originated in Mount Emei, with a history of nearly 3000 years. It has more than 80 schools and hundreds of boxing types and ways. It is one of the three major schools of Chinese martial arts.
Emei Wushu promotes its own development by integrating with the Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism of Emei Mountain. According to historical records, Emei Wushu originated in the Yin and Shang Dynasties and formed a systematic theoretical system in the Southern Song Dynasty. It stresses the combination of hardness and softness. It's both internal and external. Its movements seem to be fast and slow, alternating fast and slow, soft and rigid, and combination of hardness and softness. At present, Emei Wushu still has 68 schools and 2638 kinds of unarmed, instrument, antithesis, routine, training methods and attack items. Only taking Emei boxing as an example, it still has four categories (namely Emei Gaozhuang boxing, Emei aizhuang boxing, Emei Kejia boxing, Emei Faxiang boxing, etc.), eight categories (namely sengmen boxing, yuemen boxing, Zhaomen boxing, Dumen boxing, Hongmen boxing, Huamen boxing, Zimen boxing and so on) Huimen boxing, etc.), shibajia Boxing (namely Huolong boxing, Yujia boxing, Emei swordsman, Qianjia Xianhu boxing, Emei Liuhe boxing, Emei Bagua Lianhua boxing, Emei monkey boxing, Emei Luohan boxing, panlame boxing, twining silk boxing, Emei snake boxing, tiger claw boxing, Greenwood short boxing, qingchenghong boxing, manshou boxing, Meisi boxing, Yaozi boxing, Emei Digong boxing, etc.). Under the impact of modern life style, the complete inheritance of Emei Wushu is facing many difficulties, which need to be protected.
