Introduction to Hangzhou Pinghua

Hangzhou Pinghua, also known as "Hangzhou Dashu", is popular in Hangzhou and surrounding areas of Zhejiang Province. Its historical origin can be traced back to Lin'an (Hangzhou ancient name) in the Southern Song Dynasty, such as "talking", "talking about history", "novels" and other ancient forms of Quyi. In the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, Hangzhou Pinghua gradually formed in the modern sense. In the years of Daoguang and Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, this folk art style became more mature, and a number of famous artists such as Wang Chunqiao, Xie Wanchun and Shen pubao appeared.

Hangzhou Pinghua is expressed by one person in Hangzhou dialect, and the simulated endorsement content can be inserted from time to time in the narration. "Bai" refers to the language, mood and intonation of the characters in the first person simulation book, and "Biao" refers to the narration of the progress of the story and the description, analysis and evaluation of the characters, events and environment. In Shuo Biao, seven character "Fu Zan" (commonly known as "Fu Er") in rhyme style is often used to enhance rhythm and exaggerate atmosphere, such as Shuai Tang Fu, Huayuan Fu, Mao Kai Fu, and Zhen Zhan Fu. Hangzhou Pinghua has more than 50 kinds of traditional bibliographies, such as Western Han Dynasty, Eastern Han Dynasty, Three Kingdoms, Yang Jiajiang, Shuihu, Wusong romance and yuezhuan, which can be divided into four categories: history, Gongan, chivalry and myth. In the early 1960s, artists adapted and performed more than 20 kinds of modern bibliographies, which made a beneficial attempt for the development of Hangzhou Pinghua.

Hangzhou Pinghua is a wonderful work of Jiangnan art garden, with high artistic and historical and cultural value. At present, Hangzhou Pinghua has no successors and is declining, which needs to be protected and inherited.
