A brief introduction of Buyi people's Bayin sitting singing
Applicant: Xingyi City, Guizhou Province
Buyi Bayin sitting singing, also known as "Buyi Bayin", is a folk art form handed down from generation to generation. For thousands of years, it has been inherited in the villages of Nanpanjiang River Basin. It is said that the prototype of Buyi Bayin belongs to the court music, which mainly focuses on playing. After the yuan and Ming Dynasties, due to the role of Buyi people's aesthetic consciousness, it gradually developed into a form of folk art with silk and bamboo instruments as the main accompaniment.
According to relevant records, Buyi Bayin was once popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the villages of the Buyi people in the Panjiang River Valley, there is a teaching music workshop called "Bayin hall", which is specially used to teach the skills of Buyi Bayin. More than 300 Bayin teams perform Bayin sitting and singing for a long time. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Xingyi Buyi Bayin team has been invited to perform at home and abroad for many times. It is known as "the wonderful flower of Panjiang River", "the voice of heaven", "the living fossil of sound" and "the Pearl of art by Nanpanjiang River".
The performance form of Bayin sitting singing is eight people holding eight kinds of musical instruments, such as niuguhu (niujiaohu), huluhu (huluhu), Yueqin, Cigu (bamboo drum), Xiaotong, Chai, Baobao Gong and Xiaoma Gong. The performance uses the first person "jump in" to sing and narrate the story, and the third person "jump out" to explain the story. Some Buyi musical instruments such as Lelang, Leyou and Muye are added to accompany the performance. When singing, male artists often use high octave, while women sing in the original tone, which can not only produce strong pitch and timbre contrast, but also increase the interest of singing.
The main melody of bayinzuozhang is zhengdiao, and other tunes are collectively referred to as xiandiao. The most representative traditional programs include Buyi wedding custom, hexitang, Hu Xi and Nanxiang, yingkediao, singing the biography of Wang Yulian, toasting song, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, etc.
Bayin sitting singing is gradually created by the Buyi people in the long-term production and life practice. It is deeply rooted in the Buyi people, with distinct Buyi characteristics and broad mass base. It can be said that Bayin sitting singing is not only the crystallization of Buyi people's wisdom, but also the treasure of Chinese Quyi. At present, the survival and development of Ba Yin sit sing is facing serious difficulties, and it is in urgent need of protection and support.
