Han tune Erhuang, also known as "mountain Erhuang", is popular in Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan and Gansu provinces. Its singing style is mainly xipi and Erhuang. In addition, it absorbs other tunes and local folk music and sings in dialect. Popular in Yunyang area (Shiyan City), Shan Erhuang is a local opera of Shiyan in Hubei Province, which has a history of more than 250 years. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, the immigrants from Huangzhou government migrated to the northwest of Hubei Province, combining the Chu tune with the local dialect and folk music in the northwest of Hubei Province, gradually forming Shan Erhuang. After the founding of new China, every county in Yunyang area established the mountain Erhuang troupe one after another, and Zhuxi County Erhuang troupe is one of them.

Shan Erhuang's tune is close to the local dialect, his monologue is close to the local dialect, his plot is close to life, his actors are close to the people, his performance is not stick to one pattern, his program is flexible, and his means are rich and diverse. It can perform both traditional and modern dramas; it can perform both the whole drama and the life drama; it has the style of large drama and the characteristics of local drama. It is suitable for both women and children. There are more than 100 plays performed by the mountain Erhuang troupe of Zhuxi County, among which more than 30 are often performed. Qingfengting and the story of the wall are the most influential, and they are well-known in urban and rural areas.

At present, there is a lack of collation of the existing materials of Shan Erhuang. With the gradual death of the old artists, many of the art materials handed down from mouth to heart have been lost. Zhuxi Erhuang troupe, the only one to perform Shan Erhuang, is also facing the situation of talent dating and lack of talent. This precious local opera is on the verge of extinction and is in urgent need of rescue and protection.
