Dongxing Township
Dongxing Township, under the jurisdiction of Mingshui County, is located in the south of the county, adjacent to Shuangxing Township in the East and Qinggang County in the south. The township government is 20 kilometers away from the county seat. The total area of the township is 81.48 square kilometers.
Dongxing Township, formerly known as baijiatun, was under the jurisdiction of Qinggang county. In 1912, Bai Qingshan and others established wasteland. In December 1923, after the establishment of Mingshui Administration Bureau, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanxiang. In 1929, it was changed into the third district of Mingshui county. After the fall of Northeast China, it was the sixth village at the beginning and changed to Shuangyi village in 1938. After the victory of the "93" Anti Japanese war in 1945, it was subordinate to the Second District in February 1946 and changed to Shuangxing District in 1949. In March 1956, Dongxing township was set up by combining villages with townships. In September 1958, it merged with Shuangxing Township and established Shuangxing people's commune. In 1962, it was transferred from Shuangxing commune to Dongxing commune. In April 1984, the government and society were separated and changed to Dongxing township. Dongxing township has a flat terrain, with farmland in the East and grassland in the West. The main crops are corn, sorghum, wheat, soybean, potato, flax, beet, sunflower, etc. Cattle and sheep are mainly used in animal husbandry. Township run industries include clothing processing factory, food processing factory, flax raw material factory, machinery processing factory, brick factory, etc. The township has jurisdiction over 9 villages, including dongshuang, Donghe, Dongfeng, Dongsheng, Dongfa, Dongfu, Donghua, Dongli and Dongming. The township government is located in baijiatun, Dongfeng Village. The cultivated land area of the township is 81000 mu, which is a semi agricultural and semi pastoral area. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 12300.
