Grassland township is located in the northwest of Songpan County, 165 kilometers away from the county, with an area of 495.92 square kilometers and a population of 1879 (2017).

In December 2019, the people's Government of Aba Prefecture decided to abolish grassland township.

General situation

Grassland township is located in the northwest of Songpan County, 165 kilometers away from the county, with an area of 495.92 square kilometers and a population of 1879 (2017). Hei (Shui) Mao (Ergai) highway leads to Xiang Fu. There are xieran bugensha pasture and Zhaxi quduo pasture. It is the only pure animal husbandry Township in the county with a long history of grazing. The total area of the township is 68 square kilometers. The economic type of grassland township is mainly animal husbandry. The main highway is "heisong highway". There is a primary school and a health center in the area. It is adjacent to the sedi and amu townships of Hongyuan county. Under the jurisdiction of an administrative village, 5 villager groups, a total of 303 households, 1618 people, is the only chunzang chunmu Township and Kashin Beck disease area in our county. The township is engaged in animal husbandry production, mainly raising yaks, but also raising some riding horses.

Historical evolution

In 1956, dongzhangfang township was established; in 1962, grassland township was renamed; in 1973, commune was changed; in 1984, township was restored; in December 2019, ABA people's government decided to abolish grassland township.

Animal products include butter, milk residue, wool, cattle hair and meat. There are red deer, yellow deer, yellow sheep, blue horse chicken and other rare wild animals under state protection. Fritillaria is rich in precious medicinal materials. 1524.87 hectares of grassland has been restored. In 2009, there were 16245 livestock on hand and 1762 out of the market, 296 tons of meat and 296 tons of grain. The total income of rural economy reached 5.67567 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers and herdsmen was 3510 yuan.
