It is adjacent to Dongba township of Nangqian County in the East, Dingqing County of Tibet Autonomous Region in the South and jieduo Township in the West and North. It is 70 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total administrative area of 1752.15 square kilometers.
During the period of the Republic of China, Sulu township was under the jurisdiction of Nangqian thousand households, which was the residence of Sulu tribe and Zhongba meima hundred households in Yushu. In 1984, it was changed from Sulu commune to Sulu township. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Sulu township was 7655. In 2019, Sulu Township governs three administrative villages, namely Xinyun village, Shanrong village and Duoxiao village, and the people's government is stationed in pusaima.
The main economic sources of agriculture in Sulu township are animal husbandry and Cordyceps. The main economic sources of animal husbandry are sheep, cattle and horses.
History of construction
During the period of the Republic of China, the area of Sulu township was under the jurisdiction of Nangqian's 1000 households, which was the residence of Sulu tribe and Zhongba meima's 100 households.

In 1971, Sulu Shaugh became Sulu commune.
In 1984, Sulu commune was changed into Sulu township.
