Zhong Chi Town, a town in April 2018, is located in the southwest of Longyan County, Fujian province. It has a total area of 113 square kilometers, and has 10826 registered residence population (2018). It has 7 administrative villages (October 2019). Zhongyan highway is connected with national highway 205, Zhongchi highway is connected with provincial highway 306, and Zhongchi Yuping village is directly connected with Guangfu Town, Guangdong Province.

Historical evolution
In Song Dynasty, it belonged to Heping township.
Ming Dynasty, belongs to the county.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, the central red area was set up.
In 1940, it was changed to Wancheng township.
During the Soviet period, two townships in the central red area established the Soviet regime.
At the beginning of new China, it was divided into Chengxiang District and Xiaba district.
In April 1958, Zhongchi township was established; in November of the same year, Zhongchi commune was established.
In February 1960, it was incorporated into Xiaba commune.
In April 1961, the Chinese Red commune was restored.
In October 1984, Zhongchi commune was abolished and Zhongchi township was reestablished.

Zhongchi town is located in the southwest of Wuping County, adjacent to Yanqian town in the East, Guangfu town in Guangdong Province in the south, Zhongshan and Xiaba Township in the west, Chengxiang Township and Shifang town in the north, with a total area of 113 square kilometers.

In 1987, the total agricultural output value of Zhongchi township (now Zhongchi Town, the same below) was 3.5875 million yuan, with 278 township enterprises and an annual income of 1.8693 million yuan. By 2001, the total social output value of Zhongchi township was 132 million yuan, the total industrial and agricultural output value was 72 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers reached 2695 yuan. Since the reform and opening up, township enterprises and non-public economy have made great progress, forming such pillar industries as hydropower, papermaking, bamboo and wood processing, and wine making.

From 1988 to 1997, Zhongchi township (now Zhongchi town) established industrial enterprises such as machine brick factory, machine-made paper factory, wood products processing factory and quartz powder factory. At the same time, individual processing industry, transportation industry, commerce and catering industry developed rapidly. Since 1997, a number of joint-stock cooperative small hydropower stations have been built, including shangchi power station with an installed capacity of 800 kW, changfengjian power station with an installed capacity of 800 kW and its affiliated power station, qixingyi power station with an installed capacity of 160 kW, and Hengshi power station with an installed capacity of 125 kW has been expanded to China Chih united power station with an installed capacity of 640 kW.
