Chigan town

Chigan Town, belonging to Liquan County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the north of Liquan county. Jinghe is adjacent to Jingyang County in the East, Zhaoling town in the south, Nanfang town in the west, Jinghe River and Chunhua County in the north, with Jinghe River as the boundary. Its total area is 166.65 square kilometers.

Historical evolution

It belongs to Wei state in the southern and Northern Dynasties.

In 1941, it belonged to Chinan town.

On May 18, 1949, Chinan district was set up after liberation.

In November 1958, Chinan district was abolished and renamed Dongfanghong commune, which governs Chigan Township, Dongzhuang Township and Xianghu township.

In 1961, nine communes were set up as 20 communes. The former Dongfanghong commune was divided into Chigan commune, Dongzhuang commune and Xianghu commune.

At the end of 1984, the commune was changed into a township and Xianghu Township, Chigan Township and Dongzhuang Township were set up.
