Yankoupu town is subordinate to Shaoyang County, Hunan Province, 25 kilometers west of Shaoyang City. In ancient times, it had the reputation of Baoqing's four famous shops, commonly known as "Xilu yankoupu". It is located in the middle and west of Hunan and the throat of Hunan, Yunnan and Guizhou. In ancient times, it was a two-way post station. The existing Tan Shao Expressway and 320 national highway pass through the area. The geographical coordinates are 117 degrees east longitude and 27 degrees north latitude, 13 kilometers long from east to west and 19 kilometers wide from north to south, covering an area of 88 square kilometers.

Historical evolution

Yankoupu town is an important town in the north of Shaoyang County. It has a long history. It is said that there is a big karst cave under the "four rows of wells" of yankoupu, so it is called yankoupu. Before liberation, it belongs to Lisheng township of Shaoyang County. In 1950, it belongs to seven districts of Shaoyang County. In the winter of the same year, it was established under the jurisdiction of luomushan District of Shaoyang County. From 1951 to 1957, it was under the jurisdiction of luomushan district. In 1958, Xianfeng people's commune was established, It has jurisdiction over yankoupu, changyangpu, kumushan and Huang'an temple. In 1964, yankoupu people's commune was established, and in 1984, it was changed into yankoupu Township People's government. The town was established in 1989, and the district was withdrawn and the township was established in May 1995. The 16 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of the former Huang'an Temple Township were merged into yankoupu town. The town has 32 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee.

Yankoupu town covers a total area of 88 square kilometers, and its forestry resources mainly include pine and fir. The territory is rich in coal, manganese and other mineral reserves.
