Brief introduction of xingkou town
Xingkou is the old course of the Yellow River. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Yellow River flowed through it, and the famous town was Heji. In the Ming Dynasty, people surnamed Xing ferried here for a living, forming the name xingjiakou, which was later simplified as xingkou.
Xingkou commune was established in 1975, and the township was changed in 1984. It covers an area of 55.43 square kilometers and has a population of 54356 (2017). National Highway 106 and provincial highway 325 will cross the border, Xinshang local railway and Shangqiu Dengfeng expressway will be built in the future, and railway stations and expressway entrances will be set up respectively. By then, xingkou's traffic location advantage will be more obvious. Xingkou is also the main garlic producing town in Qixian County, with xingkou garlic trading market.
Huqiu Temple
The former site of the peasant revolutionary uprising in Qi County, located in Gulou village, 12 kilometers south of the county, was named after the tiger shaped mound. It was destroyed in the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1668, the seventh year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. During the period of the Republic of China, Feng Yuxiang demolished it when he was stationed in Henan, and rebuilt it after the founding of the people's Republic of China. Now there are only the middle hall and the mountain gate, covering an area of 1 mu. In the autumn of the 15th year of the Republic of China, Zhang Haifeng and he Xinrong, members of the Communist Party of China, gathered some peasant self-defense regiments here and attacked the recruiting office of Wu Peifu's Department of the northern warlord in jifangli village of suixian county. They captured the enemy's head alive and seized some weapons, smashing the plot of the Northern Warlord to destroy the peasant movement. In 1963, it was announced by the people's Government of Henan Province as a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
