Nalao town

Nalao Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Xilin County, Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the east of Xilin County, bordering Ding'an town of Tianlin County in the East, zubie Yao Miao Township in the south, Puhe Miao Township and Xiping Township in the west, and Yancha and Jieting township of Longlin Autonomous County in the north, with a total area of 229.33 square kilometers.

In 1904, nalao belonged to the first section of the West District of Xilin County. In 1984, the township and village division system was restored, which was called nalao township. In 2013, nalao township was withdrawn to build a town. As of the end of 2019, nalao town has a total population of 9073 people; there are Zhuang, Han, Miao, Yao, Yi and other ethnic groups in the town, and the population of ethnic minorities accounts for more than 85% of the total population; it has jurisdiction over six administrative villages.

History of construction

In 1904, nalao belonged to the first section of the West District of Xilin County.

In 1922, it was called nalao league office and later changed to nalao township.

In August 1951, it belonged to the seventh district of Longlin Autonomous County.

In 1958, it was called the reform commune.

From 1961 to 1962, the small commune system was implemented, which was divided into nalao commune and Bailao commune.

In 1984, the township and village division system was restored, which was called nalao township. At the same time, zubie Yao and Miao township was set up.

In 2013, nalao township was withdrawn to build a town.

History and culture

Nalao, a place name in Zhuang language, means a field as fat as pig oil, also known as "reform". It got its name from Cen Yubao, a native of nalao in the late Qing Dynasty, who participated in the "reform" movement and organized the "reform group".

In nalao Town, there is an ancient building complex, such as the palace protection mansion of Cen family, the former residence of three governors; among them, the cen family building complex in Xilin was listed as the cultural relic protection unit of the autonomous region in 1994 and the national key cultural relic protection unit in 2013.
