The name of Wenyang began in the spring and Autumn period. It's named because it's in the north of Wenshui. Historical evolution

The name of Wenyang began in the spring and Autumn period. It's named because it's in the north of Wenshui. The Qin Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Qi county. In the Western Han Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Lu County, and Wenyang county was established. The county seat was located in wudian village of the present town. Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties were under the jurisdiction of Yanzhou and Tai'an respectively.

During the period of the Republic of China, it first belonged to the southwest township of Tai'an County. In October 1939, it was renamed the Tenth District of Tai'an (West) county. In July 1941, the Tenth District of Tai'an (West) county was abolished and rebuilt into the first, second and third districts. In 1946, Taixi county was established, and the three districts of the former Taian (West) County were abolished and merged into the second district.

In 1949, Taixi county was abolished and assigned to Feicheng county. The first district of Tai'an (West) county was changed into the eighth District of Feicheng county (Anjiazhuang), the Second District of Tai'an (West) county was changed into the Ninth District of Feicheng county (Gaoyu, located in Wali), and the third district of Tai'an (West) county was changed into the Tenth District of Feicheng county (bianyuan). In June 1952, the nine districts were divided into nine districts (Gaoyu District, dongzhuotou District) and twelve districts (majiabu District) with caozhuo River as the boundary.

In September 1958, Gaoyu, wudian and zhuanshe townships in Feicheng county were merged and Wenyang people's commune was established.
