The sea of gold is said to have been made from the Calendula left by Genghis Khan when he led the soldiers to pass by. It is also said that a pair of golden sheep came down from yak mountain to drink water by the lake. When they tasted the mellow and sweet water, they didn't want to go back to the mountain and enter the lake, so the lake is called the sea of gold. The west, northwest and east sides of the sea are surrounded by sand mountains. The sand is so delicate that people can't help barefoot and have closer contact with it. Only on the southeast side of the sea are high reeds and nearly 100 meters of grass belt, which attract birds, cattle and sheep to forage, play and rest.

From the deep of the vast Gobi, there is a touch of vibrant green, like a magnetic field, which deeply attracts passers-by! Come near, surprise! Grassland, sheep, reeds, birds, yurts, Tibetan mastiff, but also that clear lake, give people a spiritual shock!

Because the golden sea is formed by the accumulation of a sweet spring water, the water is extremely clear. No fish has ever been found in the shallow water, but only small conches and shells. In fact, there are fish deep in the sea. Archaeological findings show that to the east of the golden sea is the cultural accumulation layer of the bronze age, with fragments of stone tools and brown pottery pots mixed with sand of Nuomuhong culture, indicating that the formation of the sea has a long history. In the vast Gobi, there is such a pool of sweet spring, nurturing the herdsmen around, moistening all the creatures on this land, and growing.

Nowadays, the relevant departments have opened up tourist routes in the golden sea, allowing visitors to slide sand, fish, play in the water, enjoy various natural beauty of the plateau desert, taste milk tea and mutton in the white Mongolian yurt, watch Mongolian songs and dances, and understand and experience the national customs. All these will bring visitors to the simplicity and nature.
