The name of the mountain is transliterated from Tibetan and translated into Chinese as "a place where Eagles can't fly.". However, there are many Gala chickens living on this mountain, so it is called "La Ji mountain" by the people. Since ancient times, Riyue mountain has been an important traffic road between the East and the west of Qinghai Province, through which the highway and railway from Xining to Golmud pass.
