Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history museum is located at no.732 Donghu street, Quanzhou City. Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history museum began to prepare for construction in 1982, and the Preparatory Committee was set up in 1987. The construction of the museum started in 1993 and was completed at the end of 1995.
Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum consists of one main building, one comprehensive building and two auxiliary buildings in front of the museum. Since its establishment, the museum has successively launched two basic exhibitions, namely "Museum of history of going abroad" and "Quanzhou people in Nanyang". "Going abroad history museum" mainly shows the reasons, types, ways, processes and influences of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese emigrating overseas in different historical periods since the Tang Dynasty; "Quanzhou people in Nanyang" shows the history of Quanzhou people's survival and development overseas and the social changes and current situation of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese.
Historical evolution
In 1982, Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Federation planned to build Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum and raised money from overseas.
In 1984, ye Xingluo, a resident of Nan'an Township in Indonesia, first donated HK $150000.
On April 20-22, 1987, Quanzhou Federation of overseas Chinese officially issued the proposal for the construction of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum, passed the origin of preparing for the construction of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum, and established the preparation committee of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history museum with Wang Jinsheng as the director.
On September 10, 1991, vice mayor Xue Zuliang convened relevant departments to listen to the report of the Preparatory Committee of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum, and supported the inclusion of museum construction in the eighth five year plan. In the last ten days, the Preparatory Committee signed a land requisition agreement with Renfeng village, Donghai township.
In March 1992, the Fourth Plenary Session of the third session of the Quanzhou Federation of overseas Chinese added the leaders of the Preparatory Committee and decided to set up three groups: publicity and recruitment, infrastructure and information collection.
On November 18, 1993, the foundation of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history museum was laid, and construction started on December 25. By the end of 1995, the main building and supporting facilities in the front area of the first phase project were completed. The main building is a 5-storey building with a height of 25 meters and a building area of 6523 square meters; the front area of the museum is a 2-storey building with a building area of 1006 square meters.
On March 4, 1996, the museum was inaugurated.
In June 1997, the editorial board of Quanzhou City approved Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum as a subordinate institution of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Federation.
In September 1998, the museum recruited the first batch of staff.
On January 31, 2000, the construction of the Museum of history of going abroad was completed.

Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum consists of one main building, one comprehensive building and two auxiliary buildings in front of the museum. The front of the main building is connected with the East and West wings by circular arches, which means that the museum plays a role of bridge connecting Quanzhou and overseas villagers. The main building has a construction area of 6523 square meters and a height of 24 meters. The layout of the museum's functional areas is reasonable, with cultural relics warehouse area, cultural relics restoration room, scientific research laboratory, exhibition area, public service area, office area, academic lecture hall, reception room, central control room, duty room, parking lot and other professional functional areas and related supporting facilities.

Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum mainly displays the history of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese immigrants and their survival and development abroad, reflecting the main characteristics of overseas Chinese groups and their status and role in the development of human civilization.
As a special Museum of overseas Chinese history, the museum's collection is of exotic cultural color and high historical, cultural, artistic and scientific value. It is an important material to reproduce the migration, livelihood and development of overseas Chinese ancestors. By the end of 2007, there were 4459 items (including exhibits) in the museum, most of which were handed down cultural relics donated by overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese, and only a small number of unearthed cultural relics received from relevant departments. Among them, the more precious cultural relics and historical materials mainly reflect the major events, important figures and famous overseas Chinese leaders of various periods in the history of overseas Chinese, such as "He Xiangning, Guo Moruo, ye gongchuo's cooperative painting", "bill of lading of Indonesia Surabaya branch of Tan Kah Kee Company", "fan Ke ballad written by Liang Piyun", Indonesian overseas Chinese "welcome President Sukarno's signature book" and "members of Myanmar alliance" Wu Zonghai's diary, etc.
The library has a "Li Chengzhi overseas Chinese Library and reference center", which is specialized in collecting overseas Chinese history materials and some local historical materials of Quanzhou. It has a collection of more than 8000 books, more than three foreign academic journals, more than 10 Chinese academic journals, and thousands of precious genealogies and overseas Chinese community publications.

In addition to the basic exhibition, the museum has held more than 100 temporary exhibitions, including "photo exhibition of overseas Chinese in the 20th century", "photo exhibition in memory of Dr. Sun Yat Sen" and "my Chinese heart - the deeds of Mr. Huang Zhongxian, an Indonesian Chinese philanthropist" through self-organizing, introduction, cooperation and overseas exhibitions. The museum has sent staff to participate in international and domestic related academic seminars and academic visits for many times; assisted in publishing papers and works such as "Quanzhou villagers in Myanmar", "special issue of Quanzhou Federation of overseas Chinese in commemoration of its 40th anniversary", "history of overseas Chinese" (Volume 9), "random essays in Vietnam", etc., published more than 10 articles, and more than 2 articles for professional and technical personnel above intermediate level.

Organization setup
Quanzhou Overseas Chinese history museum is a branch level institution under Quanzhou Federation of overseas Chinese, with 12 authorized institutions. The museum undertakes the collection, display and research of historical relics, documents and materials of overseas Chinese. It is a special museum that comprehensively displays the history of overseas Chinese in Quanzhou and promotes the spirit and fine tradition of overseas Chinese. The internal organization includes: Curator's office, office, storage department, Work Department of Chen liequn and academic department.
Function value
Since its completion, Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum has been open to the public free of charge, carrying out all-round social education and service work, signing patriotic education cooperation agreements with dozens of universities, middle schools and primary schools such as Huaqiao University, Yangen University and liming University, providing services for young students to visit, and actively organizing roving exhibitions in communities and villages, so that the museum can truly enter the masses life.
