Five springs of xiongxi

Five springs of xiongxi

Hongjiang river was called xiongxi in ancient times, with five springs. The first and second springs are at the foot of laoyapo, and the third, fourth and fifth springs are located in baimaping (now in xiongxi Park). In the 18th year of the Republic of China, Peng Shou went to the door of rich merchants to raise funds to build the five springs, and set up a monument beside each spring to commemorate. The inscription was written by Zheng Xuan of Hongjiang.

Among the five springs, the third spring has the best water quality, pure and sweet, but the water quality has been polluted due to disrepair for a long time; the fifth spring has a wide water surface, which has also been polluted, and is now under renovation and repair. The water of the fourth spring is large and clear. It is still drunk by the residents nearby. The first and second springs were destroyed due to the construction of songyun road.
