Shaxi Sideng Street

Shaxi Sideng street has always been the throat of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Nanzhao and Tubo. Only Xingjiao temple, ancient stage, Yujin bridge and Sifang Street are left in Sideng street, as well as more than 30 old houses represented by Ouyang courtyard.

Historical development

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the development of four salt wells around Shaxi, namely Qiaohou, Misha, maden and Yunlong Nuodeng, more than 100000 loads of salt were transported out every year. In addition, the cloth, tea, medicinal materials and general merchandise trafficked have accumulated a lot of wealth and left many legends for Shaxi.

There are cobweb like ancient roads in Shaxi. Mingjianshao ancient road and Shaxi ancient road leading to Misha salt well are well preserved. On the road paved with bluestone slabs, deep horseshoe prints can be seen everywhere. Yujin bridge in the east of Sideng street was first built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, and then collapsed and rebuilt many times. The existing bridge was rebuilt by the people of Shaxi in 1931. In addition, the famous old bridge also has mapingguan's single hole stone arch tile house gallery bridge and Guanfeng bridge.

Sifang street, the center of Sideng street, is paved with red sand and stone, covering an area of 35000 square meters. It is the main place for commodity trading. There are many shops and horse farms around the street. Most of the buildings are two-story wooden buildings with shop in front and shop in back, which is the main feature of the market buildings on the ancient tea horse road. The room facing the street is a shop for business, and the room behind the shop is a horse shop for caravan and merchants.
