Gangang Park

Ganggang park is located in the northeast of the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Haihe East Road (beside Ganggang bridge). In 1895, the coastal defense office was built here, which was later converted into Cixi Weijin military parade palace. In 1902, Yuan Shikai, governor of Zhili and Minister of Beiyang, moved the governor yamen of Zhili to implement the new policy and develop Hebei new area. Later, it was the residence of Zhili provincial government and Hebei provincial government. In July 1937, it was bombed into ruins by Japanese invaders. After liberation, the courtyard was rebuilt with antique buildings and micro plastic models of steel bridges.
