Nantong Mosque
Nantong mosque, located in the center of Nantong xijiajing. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, there were historical records that the Hui people entered Nantong, but there was no mosque for a long time, so religious activities were inconvenient. It was first built in 1922. Destroyed in the "Cultural Revolution", it was rebuilt from 1985 to 1986.
In 1990, the Nantong mosque hired Cui Zhilin as its Imam from Lingtang Hui Township, Yangzhou City, thus ending the situation of no Imam from the "Cultural Revolution" to 1990.
Historical evolution
In 1922, Li Weizhong, a Muslim of the army's 76 mixed brigade stationed in Nantong, initiated the proposal of raising money to build a mosque, and organized a "board of directors for raising money" to raise more than 4000 silver dollars from various religions in Shanghai, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Jingjiang, Huaiyin, Wuxi, Xiamen and Dongtai. The preparation for the construction of the mosque was supported by Mr. Zhang Jian, a modern Chinese industrialist and founder of China's textile industry.
Renovation and reconstruction
Destroyed in the "Cultural Revolution", it was rebuilt from 1985 to 1986. In 1990, Cui Zhilin was hired as the Imam of the temple from Lingtang Hui Township in Yangzhou City, thus ending the situation that the temple had no Imam from the "Cultural Revolution" to 1990.
Nantong mosque covers an area of about 1 mu, with a total construction area of 5O0 square meters, of which the main hall is 120 square meters.
The mosque in Nantong is an Arabian style building. There are flower walls, round doors and leaky windows in the courtyard. The environment is quiet and elegant.
Temple culture
In Nantong mosque, there is a three foot four mouth censer engraved with Arwen in Xuande period of Ming Dynasty, and 10 Arwen scriptures.
There are 140 households with 496 people, mostly Hui and Uygur.
