The main building of Sanyi hall was basically completed in 1934 (due to various reasons, the decoration of the ceiling and the octagonal bell tower on the roof of Sanyi hall were not completed until the autumn of 1945). On January 8, 1935, the association of three church presidents held a meeting in Xiamen YMCA. Xiamen District Council also sent people to attend the meeting. The meeting decided to name the new church "Trinity Church". Trinity church not only means the joint construction of three churches, but also contains the doctrine of trinity of father, son and Holy Spirit.
The Sanyi hall on Gulangyu Island is a modern excellent building, which was announced as the Sixth Batch of "national key cultural relics protection units" by the State Council on May 25, 2006.
